New Things To Try in 2012

Happy New Year!

I’m back from a somewhat busy, but very enjoyable break.

Here is my list of twelve new things I am going to try this year. My goal is to complete one new project each month and report back to you on how it went.

January :: Make Hair Ribbons for Clara

February :: Create Faux Stained Glass Peacock Art

March :: Finish Wall Quilt (I still consider this project new, since it’s the first one I’ve ever attempted.)

April :: Make my own dishwasher detergent

May :: Learn how and start to compost

June :: Make a Terrarium

July :: Make popsicles

August :: Can Tomatoes

September :: Make 25 Thank You Cards

October :: Make this Almost No-Knead Bread

November :: Knit a Scarf

December :: Make Cameo Christmas Ornaments

Do you have any new projects lined up for the new year? I would love to hear about it.

Apple Butter Recipe

Apple Butter

I still have a lot of apples to use up. Today, I’ll use them to make this apple butter recipe from my sister’s mother-in-law, Bev. The apple butter can be canned or frozen. I will be canning it.

Ingredients 16 cups of applesauce 8 cups of sugar 4 Tbsp. of cinnamon 1 Tbsp. of nutmeg 1 tsp. of cloves (ground) 1. Mix all ingredients together in a large cooking pot (or roaster). 2. Place in a slow oven (250°F) and bake for several hours until desired consistency is achieved. 3. Stir periodicallyduring baking.     Here is the canning set I use, since I have an electric stovetop. It’s worked great for me so far.
