Apple Cake

Apple Cake Recipe

It’s apple picking season. And with all those apples to process it’s time to test out new apple recipes.

This past week at Bible club, we tried out this apple coffee cake recipe I found at allrecipes. The girls had a blast working in the kitchen and their diligent apple chopping and ingredient measuring paid off!

Please note that we did not make the brown sugar sauce. Mostly because of time constraint. But that […]

Thanksgiving Pie Recipes ~ Apple, Cherry and Lemon Meringue

cherry pie

Growing up in Germany, I wasn’t too familiar with pies or pie making. My sister and I would make fancy German fruit cake or some other creamy torte for the traditional coffee and cake time on Sunday afternoons.

So, when I got married and realized how much my midwest American husband loves pies, I had to learn how to make them. There were some major flops along the way {for which I still get teased}, […]

1. Mix all ingredients together in a large cooking pot (or roaster).

2. […]

Freezing Apples for Pie

Apple Pie

In the past, I’ve peeled and cut apples into pie sized pieces, mixed in some Fruit Fresh and bagged them for the freezer. This method works great for pies and apple crisp.

Today, I am freezing apples for pie. I will add the sugar and spices before freezing. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.

*Update* – I baked the pie for Thanksgiving and it was delicious!

If you don’t have one yet, […]

Apples & Squash

After several very busy days of church and music activities, I was able to spend some time in the kitchen this morning while helping the kids with their school work. I wanted to get to work on those apples we purchased last week as well as the butternut squash I found on sale yesterday. First, I prepared the butternut squash to go in the oven, then I got to work on the apple sauce.

Here […]

Apple Crisp Recipe

Apple Crisp

Here’s a quick and easy apple crisp dessert recipe.

We made this yesterday during the girl’s club. I know I said we would try the apple pizza cake, but I realized it wasn’t going to fit into our timeframe. The apple crisp turned out to be a successful substitute. The girls had no trouble preparing or eating it, for that matter.

Filling: 7-8 medium-large apples, peeled 1/2 c. sugar 3 Tbsp. flour 1 tsp. […]

Apple Pizza Cake Recipe

Apple Pizza Cake
