Many of you know of my love for butternut squash. My favorite thing about butternut squash {aside from the taste, of course} is the bright orange color. I mean, it’s almost a neon orange!

Anyway, in the past I shared this butternut squash muffin and butternut squash bread recipe with you. Yesterday, I decided to try out a couple of new recipes and will share one with you today.

We’ve been trying to eat more organic food which is why I decided to make my own bread. It’s the perfect way to know what’s in your bread!

Recipe Tips

We tested out several recipes, but this maple whole wheat bread recipe has quickly become our favorite. It takes about 2 hours from start to finish, so I usually start it early in the morning.

After reading some of […]

Here’s another one of Wilda’s Recipes I thought you all might like. {I talk about the recipe book here.} It’s a tasty old-fashioned recipe. Works great for freezer cooking, too!

The recipe has been slightly adapted from the original. We used chicken instead of turkey and olives instead of green pepper and pimento. Since no one in our family loves the taste of mushrooms we used cream of chicken […]

Grammy's Ham Loaf Recipe

I have something special to share with you today!

This ham loaf recipe comes from a cookbook called Wilda’s Recipes.

Wilda was my Grammy. She was a fabulous cook, but most of all a very special friend.

The recipes in this cookbook were copied directly from the recipe cards in her kitchen. And trust me, she had A LOT. My Aunt Kitty took on the task of organizing and […]

Butternut Squash Muffins

Butternut Squash Muffins

It’s butternut squash season and time to try out some new recipes.

I found a delicious butternut squash muffin recipe at the From Scratch Club blog.

I followed the recipe exactly and added the optional chocolate chips. It’s one way to convince the kids that they are going to love squash muffins, which they did!

This recipe is a keeper! Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Apple Cake

Apple Cake Recipe

It’s apple picking season. And with all those apples to process it’s time to test out new apple recipes.

This past week at Bible club, we tried out this apple coffee cake recipe I found at allrecipes. The girls had a blast working in the kitchen and their diligent apple chopping and ingredient measuring paid off!

Please note that we did not make the brown sugar sauce. Mostly because of time constraint. But that […]

Steak Success

Steak Sauce

Yesterday, we tried out a new steak sauce – Smoky Montreal Steak Sauce by McCormick. #GrillMatesPack

I drizzled a little sauce on the steak.

Let it cook…

Finished!

Result

The steak turned out very good. The entire family was pleased with the taste of McCormick’s Smoky Montreal Steak Sauce. I’ll admit I was pleasantly surprised, since I like my usual way of grilling steak a lot. And all I usually […]

Pasta Salad With Tomatoes and Olives

Our recent summer menu included a couple of new salads. And let me tell you, this Pasta Salad with Tomatoes and Olives is absolutely delicious.

Our favorite cook adapted the recipe found here. Instead of sun-dried tomatoes and capers she used fresh tomatoes for the dressing. The garlic gives this salad a nice “kick”.

Do you have a favorite pasta salad recipe? Please share!

I’d love to stay connected.
