Make your own Valentine’s Day Art

Valentine's Day Mantle

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and it’s time to decorate! This year, I decided to create some art for the mantle. {You can check out last year’s mantle here.}

Here’s what I did.

1. I painted a large canvas with a heart and stripes. {Tutorial posted below.}

2. To incorporate my built in shelves, I painted another canvas peacock blue with a cursive love.

3. The X and O were […]

Family Valentine’s Day Party

Valentine's Day

Here’s a recap of our traditional family Valentine’s Day Party. It’s been fun creating Valentine’s Day crafts and decorating the home in preparation for a celebration of LOVE.

We set the table with our heart plates and pink glasses and turned down the lights for a roomantic {as Nicholas calls it} mood. Our dinner menu included BBQ beef sandwiches, corn and spinach salad.

The kids enjoyed the funny mustache straws I picked up at […]

Valentine’s Day Jewelry Creations

Red Polka Dot Earrings

I love weekends, especially when I get to sit down and work on perfecting my jewelry making skills. Since I’m still a beginner, I do a lot of experimenting. The glass tile pendants I use for making Glass Pendant Necklaces were giving me fits, but I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Yay! Hopefully, I can share some of those with you later on this week.

In the meantime, here are some of […]

Valentine’s Day Mantle

Valentine's Day Mantle

Confession… I totally got sidetracked with my mantle wall makeover. {By the way, the comments you left for me are super helpful and I promise I’ve already started working on some of the suggestions. Please feel free to chime in if you have more ideas for me!}

A Valentine’s Day mantle display wasn’t really something I was planning on doing, but the idea just came to me so I went with it. I mean, […]

Clara found this box of chocolates while we were out shopping for Valentine’s Day gift packages. I love the mustache, and really, how clever is that?! So the box became the inspiration for our Valentine’s Day card for this year. {Last year the kids made Superheroes and Rings.}

8 ½” x 11″ white cardstock for printing 8 ½” x 11″ red cardstock scissors […]

I recently came across a beautiful quilled heart design at Lushome while researching Valentine’s Day projects. I know nothing about quilling but really like the look. {I guess a little more research is in order :).}

So here’s my simplified “copy” of the quilled heart I liked so much. It is now hanging in our dining area and I ♥ it!

Valentine’s Day Greetings – Rings and Superheroes

Valentine Superhero

There are so many great Valentine’s Day ideas out there! I’ve collected some of my favorites on Pinterest.

I found these rings for Clara to make (click here for instructions). We were really pleased with how they turned out. Twisting the pipe cleaners turned out to be a little more difficult for Clara than we anticipated. In the end, Clara worked on the labels and I did the twisting.

I showed Nicholas […]
