The weather has been so beautiful and the plants have been loving it. Here’s how things look just ten days since my first day working out in the garden.

The daylilies, forget-me-nots, hostas and peonies are pushing through.

My First Day in the Garden ~ Spring is here!

I was extremely excited that the first sunny and warm day of spring fell on a Friday and that I had nothing scheduled for the day. I’ve been waiting for this day all winter!

The kids did their instrument practicing and then we were out in the garden enjoying the beautiful sunshine. The kids were off playing in their make-believe world {which is quite entertaining} and I started cleaning up the back yard. After a […]

Butterfly Garden

Our garden is busy with butterflies these days. I wish I could adequately capture how many there are. It truly is amazing.

This time of year makes me happy I took the time to plant all the zinnias. The butterflies just LOVE these flowers. If you want to attract butterflies to your garden, I highly recommend planting zinnias. They are super heat tolerant (in fact they love being in the sun) and don’t need […]

June Daylilies

This year is an exceptional year for my daylilies. The plants are loaded with flowers. Every single variety was transplanted from my Grammy’s garden. I am so thankful she was an avid gardener and generous giver.

Don’t you just love the magnificent colors, shapes and sizes?

:: Purchase and plant tomatoes

:: Arrange hanging baskets

:: Split and share hostas (let me know if you’re interested!)

:: Hang patio […]

Spring Garden Flowers

The weather has been beautiful these past couple of days. The kids have enjoyed riding bikes, playing ball and running around outside and I spent some time in the garden working on my to-do list. I finished around the front of the house, but will still need several days to work in the back flower beds.

Here’s what’s blooming in the garden today.

Creeping Phlox

Grape Hyacinth

Spring Gardening To-Do-List (April)

Spring Gardening

It’s spring! My favorite time of year. The cold dreary winter is behind us and it’s time to get out in the garden and get things ready for a new growing season.

Here’s my spring gardening to-do-list.

I plan to check these tasks off between now and the end of April.

:: Pick up sticks and leaves

:: Clean up dead flower debris in the flower beds

:: Pull weeds

:: Trim back the cleamatis […]
