We Moved!

our new second home

We moved! (And I’m back to blogging.)

It’s something we had been thinking about for quite a while and wasn’t an easy decision to make, because we really loved our old home and garden. It was our first home and the only home the kids had ever known. But there were a few things about our living situation that were becoming more difficult to deal with. Mainly, the lack of space.

We put our house […]

exothermic reaction

Hi, this is Clara.

Today, I would like to share with you 3 reasons why you should choose to complete the 4-H Science Fun with Kitchen Chemistry project book.

1. Experiments are Fun

This project book contains many fun experiments. They explore topics such as matter, density and oxidation.

Two of my favorite experiments were how to use isopropyl alcohol to tie-dye a T-shirt and how to make a fire extinguisher using baking soda […]

More Music

It’s that time of year. Lot’s of recitals and concerts to finish out the school year. Yesterday, was the day of my spring studio recital. I thought you might enjoy some of the kids’ performances.

Clara performed a violin solo. She liked how it sounded in the church with those high ceilings.

Here’s Nick playing Premier Boogie. He was thinking about asking people to dance while he played. {And probably would have if […]

Lots of Music

These last few weeks have been crazy busy. Lots of music, school and yard work. Today, I thought I’d share some musical performances from this past week.

Here is Clara playing at her piano recital. A great afternoon of music, as usual.

These three pieces are from Clara’s Chamber Strings concert. She’s sitting first violin, second chair.

Here she’s the second one standing on the right.

Hope you […]

I recently discovered this nifty sticker maker. Of course, I just had to try it out. We used it at our craft club to make earrings, but I am also showing you how you can make pendant necklaces using this method. It is definitely much easier than the glaze method I’ve used previously.

For more of what we made at our last craft club check out the cabochon jewelry and […]

Our weekend was filled with the usual basketball and ballet activities, but we took some time on Saturday evening to celebrate Valentine’s Day together. Even though we didn’t have a special meal planned we pulled out our traditional heart dishes and red glasses. However, we did plan for a special dessert!

After dinner the kids exchanged gifts. I think it’s sweet that they wanted to use their own […]

3D Eiffel Tower Puzzle

Eiffel Tower Puzzle Paris

Clara received a 3D Eiffel Tower puzzle for Christmas. A perfect gift for our little Paris girl.

{You can read about our trip to Paris here.}

The puzzle is recommended for puzzle solvers ages 12 and up. Clara {age 11} was able to do it on her own and didn’t seem to have any trouble. Most of all, she had fun. I’m sure it will be on permanent display in her room. […]

Clara’s Piano Competition Piece ~ Debussy

Happy Monday!

I hope all of you enjoyed a relaxing weekend and were able to recharge for the week ahead. Along with the usual basketball game, ballet class and church we got to hear Clara’s flawless performance of Debussy’s Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum at the CSO Young Musicians Competition. Since I couldn’t record the actual performance, I’ll share a practice run through.

Nicholas was excited to put together his first ever model.
