My Messy Kitchen

messy kitchen

Here’s what happens every weekend – a totally messy kitchen. I don’t know why, but it does. {Ahem…so embarrassing.}

Lately, I’ve been setting the timer before cleaning a space or room. It helps me stay focused. Today, I set the timer for 20 minutes. That turned out to be a little ambitious, but I did get it everything cleaned up in 25 minutes.

I promise I didn’t just move everything to the next room […]

Vacation Bible School – Armor of God

VBS Castle

In case you’ve been wondering why I’ve been MIA this past week, these Vacation Bible School pictures will give you a little clue.

I thought you might enjoy seeing all the decorations. I can’t take credit for the artistic vision but was glad to be a part of creating and implementing the vision. A lot of the following ideas could easily be adapted to any medieval themed party.

As the kids arrived, they […]

Spring Door Wreath ~ I need your help!

Front Door

OK. So, I’ve planted the annuals and cleaned up the yard, but every time I look at the front door {which we plan to replace later on this summer} I feel like something is missing.

I was thinking about adding a wreath, but can’t figure out what would look good. Can you help me out with some ideas, please?

Here are a couple of pictures to give you an idea of what I’m talking about.

New IKEA Finds

IKEA Greenhouse

On Saturday we took a little road trip to IKEA. I just love walking through the showroom. So many great ideas!

Here are a few of the goodies I picked up.

I’ve had the greenhouse but we picked up some plants this time. I love having a little tropical feel in the house.

John has been asking for a way for me to leave him notes as to what school work still needs […]

Spring Cleaning ~ Hall Closet

Hall Closet

Yesterday, I had a little time on my hands while the kids were completing school work, so I decided to tackle the hall closet. I didn’t think it would take too long since it’s rather small. That was a big mistake! How can so much stuff fit into such a small space?

Here’s the before shot.

I found more stuff for the garage sale {table cloths I never use, unopened craft kits…}, threw out […]

Spring Cleaning ~ Guest Room/ Craft Storage

Spring Cleaning

I was able to start my first little bit of spring cleaning yesterday. {I’m gearing up for the BIG clean which will take place next week during spring break.} After you see the pictures of my guest room/storage room, you’ll know why I started here.

I can’t tell you how embarrassed I am at the condition of this room. Yep, there’s stuff everywhere. But by sharing the pics I figured you’ll see how much […]

Valentine’s Day Mantle

Valentine's Day Mantle

Confession… I totally got sidetracked with my mantle wall makeover. {By the way, the comments you left for me are super helpful and I promise I’ve already started working on some of the suggestions. Please feel free to chime in if you have more ideas for me!}

A Valentine’s Day mantle display wasn’t really something I was planning on doing, but the idea just came to me so I went with it. I mean, […]

Mantle Wall Makeover – Part 1

Fireplace Wall

Now that Christmas is over and the decorations are all packed up, the house looks plain and empty.

I need your help!

Most of our family living takes place in our open concept family/dining/kitchen room area. I’m looking to change up the decor and am not exactly sure what to do. I’ve already pinned a few ideas for the mantle on my Pinterest ~ Spring Mantle Makeover board. My initial thoughts are to […]

Jewelry Valet – A Storage Solution

So, I have a little bit of a jewelry storage problem. Here’s where I’ve been keeping my necklaces, tucked away in the corner of the closet. Not convenient to get to and also easy to overlook what’s there. {I know you’re wondering why in the world I have that colorful beaded necklace ;)}

As I was looking through a catalog that came to the house, I came accross this jewelry over-the-door valet. It seemed […]

Thanksgiving Flower Cornucopia Centerpiece

Thanksgiving cornucopia centerpiece

Here’s our Thanksgiving flower centerpiece for this year. I love how it turned out.

I took the cornucopia {which I saved from a couple of years ago} to Connells Maple Lee and asked them to fill it for me. If you’re thinking of picking up some flowers for your table don’t forget to print out a coupon.
