What we did on our Christmas break – Part 2

On day three of our Christmas break we arrived in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. (Check out part one of our trip here.) We rented Dottie’s Beach Retreat for our stay. We loved that the condo complex was right on the beach with a heated outdoor pool and private access to the beach.

Here’s the view from our balcony. Absolutely perfect!

We enjoyed a day of relaxation at the pool and playing on the beach. The weather was sunny, warm and just plain gorgeous.

The kids were very excited when our day at Disney finally arrived. Here are a few impressions of the day. It was full of fun!
The big thing we learned is that Nick is a thrill seeking roller coaster fanatic and Clara not so much. 😉

Nicholas and I got up early one morning to collect seashells. I enjoyed our quiet walk on the beach together.
(Oh, and here’s a tip on how to get red of the stinky seashell smell.)

On our last day we visited Canaveral National Seashore. If you ever get a chance you should really visit!

We took the Black Point Wildlife Drive and saw so many different birds. I discovered my new favorite bird, the Roseate Spoonbill. They’re the pink ones in the picture.

On a previous vacation in Tennessee we stumbled across an amazing used bookstore in Chattanooga, McKay’s. Since it was about half way on our way home we spent the night in Chattanooga where we watched the Ohio State Buckeyes beat Alabama {Go Bucks!} and then visited the bookstore in the morning.

Here’s my book list.

Well, that’s the end of our trip. Once we got home I did a bunch of laundry, took down all the Christmas decorations and started getting ready for real life to start back up.

Hope all of you had a special break as well. Here’s to a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I’d love to stay connected.
