What we did on our Christmas break – Part 1

We enjoyed a wonderful break from the business of normal life. Our time off started out with our traditional Christmas Eve celebrations.

Everyone is all dressed up and ready for church.

After church we sat down for our traditional dinner including ham, rice, corn, salad, feta and olives. For dessert we enjoyed some of the sweet treats we made earlier in the week: Grammy’s no bake cookies, maple fudge, chocolate fudge, spiced walnuts and Buckeyes.

Then we headed upstairs for a time of singing, Bible reading and opening of presents.

The kids were thrilled. Can you tell? {These Lego projects were completed over the weekend. Stay tuned for the results!}

We surprised them with a tickets for a day Disney World. It was going to be their first time. Clara was so excited she could hardly believe it and had a hard time falling a sleep/sleeping that night!

On Christmas day we left for Florida. We made a two day stop stop in Greensboro, NC to visit my brother Thomas and Gina.

Nicholas enjoyed some Lego time with Uncle Thomas.

Gina was very kind to give Clara her first lesson at the sewing machine and taught  her how to make a case for her ipod and a handbag. {More on that in a future post.}

Some Wii time, too.

And fun playing with the dogs. :)

Right before we continued on our way to Florida my brother Daniel and his wife Elizabeth who had just returned from Utah came by for a visit. It was so nice to see them.

Come back tomorrow for the second leg of our trip.

In the meantime…

I’d love to stay connected.

    Awe, Susan. We miss you guys, too! Clara talks about you often while doing her knitting projects. You’ve created a monster. 😉
