A Special Valentine’s Day Treat

Oreo Cookie Truffles

Pin it here.

The Bible Club girls were over this past Friday afternoon. At our previous get-together we worked on Valentine’s Day decorations. {Check out the Heart Wreath Tutorial.} So, this time we made treats for Valentine’s Day. And what could be better than Oreo Truffles! You’re going to love this easy three ingredient recipe.

Let me start out by saying, I had no idea Oreo cookies came in so many different varieties. It was hard to choose a flavor, so we ended up with four. And yes, that’s a lot of truffles!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 package of Oreo cookies {NOT double stuffed!}
  • 1 8 oz. package of cram cheese
  • approx. 12 oz. candy melts
  • food coloring, optional
  • sprinkles, optional

1. Dump all but 9 cookies {6 cookies if you’re using anything other than original flavor} into a food processor. Process until you have fine crumbles.

2. Add cream cheese. {Note – Only add approx. 6 oz. if you’re using anything other than original flavor.} Process until well combined.

3. Roll into balls and place onto cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Use approx. 2 Tbs. of mixture.

4. Place in freezer for 30 minutes.

5. Melt candy melts in a deep bowl. For the white and pink candy melts I added 2-3 Tbs. of vegetable shortening to make it more runny. Mix in food coloring if desired.

6. Dip the now cold dough balls into the chocolate. A spoon worked best for me, but you can try out other utensils.

7. Place on cookie sheet covered with wax paper and sprinkle with crushed Oreo cookies or sprinkles. Use leftover cookies for crushed sprinkles.

8. Let the candy coating harden. Then DIG IN!

Here are the flavors we made.

1. Original Oreo cookies covered with chocolate and crushed Oreo sprinkles.

2. Golden Graham Oreos covered with pink candy melts and heart sprinkles.

3. Peanut Butter Oreos covered with chocolate and crushed toffee sprinkles.

4. Mint Oreos covered with white candy melts {colored green} and crushed Oreo sprinkles.
