A Homemade Christmas ~ Glass Magnets

Pin it here.

A while back, I started to experiment with making glass magnets. I made a bunch to give away this Christmas but hadn’t quite figured out how to package them for gift giving. I checked into tins, but couldn’t find any. Then I came across Sabby’s suggestion over at Sabby in Suburbia. Love her easy, yet attractive solution.

Here’s how I made the magnets and then packaged them.

Supplies needed:

1. Choose a piece of paper and trace around the glass pebble. I worked on mine one at a time since they were irregularly shaped and I didn’t want to get them mixed up. You will want the paper to be just a little smaller than the glass surface. To do this, cut inside the traced outline.

2. Spread Aleene’s paper glaze on the paper {patterned side} and press the glass on top. I like to glue on a wax paper surface.

3. After everything is completely dry apply Mod Podge to the back to seal paper.

4. Let dry, then glue on magnets using super glue. {I found the best deal on magnets at Walmart.}

Ready to be packaged.

5. Cut heavier paper to size. {It needs to fit inside the treat bag.} Glue washers on paper. Check the spacing before you glue. Let dry completely before you try to place magnets on washers.

6. Put magnets on washers and slide cards into treat bags.

7. Cut “paper topper” to size, fold in half, slide bag in between and staple.

8. Make a label and glue it on.

Now you’ve got practical, homemade Christmas gift that is sure to please!
