Thanksgiving Recap

Thanksgiving Pies

We enjoyed a most wonderful Thanksgiving celebration with family and friends. Our Leaf Garland of Thanksgiving was completed and we certainly do have much to be thankful for. In fact, I would like to continue counting our blessings in December…just need to come up with a way to display them.

Here are some pictures of the food. I like to make enough to last us through the weekend. I think I succeeded.

Thanksgiving Flower Cornucopia Centerpiece

Thanksgiving cornucopia centerpiece

Here’s our Thanksgiving flower centerpiece for this year. I love how it turned out.

I took the cornucopia {which I saved from a couple of years ago} to Connells Maple Lee and asked them to fill it for me. If you’re thinking of picking up some flowers for your table don’t forget to print out a coupon.

Thanksgiving Pie Recipes ~ Apple, Cherry and Lemon Meringue

cherry pie

Growing up in Germany, I wasn’t too familiar with pies or pie making. My sister and I would make fancy German fruit cake or some other creamy torte for the traditional coffee and cake time on Sunday afternoons.

So, when I got married and realized how much my midwest American husband loves pies, I had to learn how to make them. There were some major flops along the way {for which I still get teased}, […]

Three Family Favorite Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes

Thanksgiving Colllage

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so I thought I would share three of our family’s favorite Thanksgiving side dish recipes: Cheesy Green Bean Casserole, Hashbrown Casserole and Sweet Potato Souffle. {Truth be told, I make some of these for Christmas, too.} I usually make two recipes of the hashbrowns and sweet potatoes so we have leftovers for the rest of the weekend.

Cheesy Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients

4 cans green beans 8 […]

Progresso Recipe Starters ~ Bacon Mac ‘n Cheese

Bacon Mac 'n Cheese

We tried another one of the recipe starters by Progresso last night, the Bacon Mac ‘n Cheese. {In case you missed it, check out the Chicken Pot Pie I made earlier this week.} It was very good and also easy to make.

You’ll need:

1 can Progresso recipe starter 3 c. uncooked pasta (I used shells, because it’s what I had) 1/2 c. milk 1 minced garlic clove 1 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese […]

Quick Tip #9 ~ How to Clean a Microwave

Microwave before 2

Now that I’ve finished some of the bigger projects to get ready for the holidays it’s time to clean the house. Today, I tackled the microwave.

Here’s a simple cleaning technique I discovered that decreased my usual thirty minute {and disgusting} project to ten. Yay!

All you’ll need is water, distilled white vinegar, a microwave safe bowl and paper towels.

Before Pics (so disgusting)

Here’s what I did.

1. Mix 1/2c. white vinegar […]
