Change a Bad Habit and Save Money in 30 Days ~ Update

So… You haven’t heard from me in a while and I must confess that I am miserably failing my challenge to change our family’s eating out habit and save money in 30 days.

We did super good during the first week. I prepared a bunch of freezer cooking meals and we disciplined ourselves to eat every meal at home using mostly ingredients already in the home. Week two hit and my family revolted. They’d had […]

Change a Bad Habit and Save Money in 30 Days ~ Use what you’ve got!

Here’s the next installment to my 30 day quest to change a bad habit {aka eating too much fast food}, save money and eat healthier. How are you doing so far? I’m hanging in there. Bad habits can be hard to break, especially on days when you’re tired and hungry and the forbidden fruit is hanging very low on the branch. So far I’ve resisted the urge to pick it.

If you’ve joined me on […]

Menu Plan to help change a Bad Habit and Save Money in 30 Days

menu plan

Yesterday, I shared about my family’s bad eating out habit and how I plan to fix it so we can eat healthier and save money. Have you joined us in our challenge yet?

The assignment for yesterday was for you to decide on a length for your challenge and to write down a menu plan.

3 Reasons Why You Should Have a Menu Plan

Maybe planning a menu is foreign to you. I’ll admit, […]

Food Stockpile

We have quite a stockpile of food in our home and yet we’ve been eating out a lot. It just doesn’t make sense. I have freezer meals ready to be cooked. I’ve got tons of frozen beef and chicken and a large stockpile of canned goods (thanks to couponing) that could easily be turned into meals. This eating out habit is NOT helping with our weight loss goals and is really starting to affect our […]

Butterfly Garden

Our garden is busy with butterflies these days. I wish I could adequately capture how many there are. It truly is amazing.

This time of year makes me happy I took the time to plant all the zinnias. The butterflies just LOVE these flowers. If you want to attract butterflies to your garden, I highly recommend planting zinnias. They are super heat tolerant (in fact they love being in the sun) and don’t need […]

Guilford Courthouse National Military Park

Yesterday, we returned from a relaxing few days in Greensboro, NC where we visited with family. During past visits we checked out many area attractions but had not visited Guilford Courthouse National Military Park yet. Since we’ve discovered the wonderful Junior Ranger program offered by the National Park Service we decided to go learn a little Revolutionary War history.
