Wow! These last two weeks have been challenging and an exercise in self-discipline.
I am happy to say that I have lost 5lbs. since January 1st and John (my husband and partner on this journey) lost 7lbs!
My two biggest challenges this week were dealing with hunger and craving sweets. Let’s face it. We’ve just come out of the holiday season full of feasts, parties, yummy treats and cookies. Any time I wanted to eat, there was something tasty I had just baked or a bowl of holiday candy just begging to be tasted.
Starting January 1st, however, I forced myself to carefully watch what and how much I ate. The first couple of days I was so hungry, it was ridiculous. I kept watching the clock anticipating the next time I could eat. I’m so glad John is on this journey with me so we can laugh at each other and encourage each other. Overall, I did very well with my food choices, but at the end of the second week I succumbed to temptation. I ate half a bar of delectable chocolate my sister brought from Germany. Oops. I did pull myself together the next day and have done well since.
Here is a list of low calorie foods I keep stocked in case I need a little treat or pick-me-up:
- honey-wheat pretzel sticks
- Pringles fat-free chips
- Russell Stover sugar free pecan delights
No matter how hungry I get or how much I want to eat gobs more of super tasty German chocolate, I am determined to press on toward my goal of loosing 30lbs. I know that come June I will be so happy I did and vice-versa so disappoointed if I don’t.
Thanks for reading and helping out with keeping me accountable!
