Here is some advice one of my college friends from Hawaii gave me on how to pick out the perfect pineapple and then slice it. They were on sale this week, so I couldn’t resist picking up a couple.
To make sure you pick out a ripe pineapple give one of the inner leaves a slight tug. If it pulls off easily you found a ripe pineapple. Look the rest of the fruit over to make sure there are no brown soft spots.
Cut the top off.
Slice in half, then quarter.
Cut off the hard inside core.
Slice each wedge in half again.
Remove the peel.
Cut into chunks.
