I made this fabulous spiced walnut recipe for Clara’s orchestra teachers yesterday. It’s super easy to make and the house smells so good. I packaged the nuts in a holiday treat bag and put them in a candy dish.
3 cup walnut halves
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tsp. grated orange zest
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1. Combine all ingredients in a heavy skillet; heat over medium-high heat to boiling.
2. Cook, stirring constantly, until all the liquid is evaporated and nuts are coated and sugary, about 5 minutes.
3. Transfer to non-sticking baking sheet, breaking nuts apart to separate while still warm. Let cool.
Makes enough for 3 gifts as pictured above.
