I love to travel and visit new places. I’m sure, growing up in Germany has something to do with that. In Europe, going to another country was just like driving to another state here in the US. As a child, I remember many vacations in Austria, Switzerland and France.
When John and I got married, we went to Cape Ann in Massachusets. We didn’t have much money, but I was able to pick up a few items to remember our trip by, one of them being a spoon. Since then, I have tried to pick up a spoon at all our travel destinations.
For the longest time, I kept them in a sandwich bag in my china hutch. About a year ago, I started looking for a way to display them. I looked for a display case at all the local stores and thrift shops, but couldn’t find anything. Finally, I found and purchased this very nice display case. It functions as a piece of art in our dining area and makes for a great conversation piece. You’ll notice that there are still many empty slots. Our big travel goal is to visit as many of the 50 US states as possible before our kids leave for college.
Do you collect items from your travels? If so, how do you display them?
