Apple Butter Recipe

I still have a lot of apples to use up. Today, I’ll use them to make this apple butter recipe from my sister’s mother-in-law, Bev. The apple butter can be canned or frozen. I will be canning it.

Ingredients

  • 16 cups of applesauce
  • 8 cups of sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. of cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. of nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. of cloves (ground)

 

1. Mix all ingredients together in a large cooking pot (or roaster).

 

2. Place in a slow oven (250°F) and bake for several hours until desired consistency is achieved.

 

3. Stir periodically during baking.

 

4. Time to can or freeze.
